As I approached 2013, I wondered if I would have the opportunity for another self-exploration solo trip this year.
Last year there was no question that I had to do it. For those of you who are new here, this blog truly was born out of my trip to New Mexico and Arizona all by my lovely self.
I took one week to visit places I’d never been before, starting in Santa Fe and driving west across the high desert to Sedona. It was life changing, awesome, and yes, even a little bit soul shaking at times. My story starts here, but then you’ll find the rest of my solo trip story here!
Funny enough, I kept hearing: “April” and “Colorado.” So, I thought…OK then! Colorado in April! Great! But…nothing was moving. I didn’t make any plans to go other than taking a peek at Google maps a few times and living with a very relaxed sense of “well, I’ll just drive down there sometime in April.”
To back up for a moment, I’ve always wanted to visit Colorado. It has everything that I long for in a restorative trip…fresh air, mountains, great hiking, awesome people, bison burgers! But, I’d never gotten around to planning a trip there, and being in Denver International Airport seven times does not count!
So, back to the story…
This year, writing has become an even bigger passion for me. Although I’m one of those people who has so many stories and so much I want to send out into the world that I can become overwhelmed and sometimes daunted at the task of putting pen to paper, er, fingers to keyboard. So, I have been searching for an awesome writers retreat or conference to really ignite my motivation and perseverance.
After a few Google searches, I came to Hay House. For those of you who don’t know, Hay House is not only a publisher of wonderful “look within” self-help books, DVDs, oracle cards, radio programs, etc. But they also have their own…wait for it…workshops and conferences!
Scouring the events page of their site, I found Writing From Your Soul a weekend for writers with Dr. Wayne Dyer, Reid Tracy, and Nancy Levin in…you guessed it…Denver! PINCH ME. The Universe knows what’s up… 🙂 Seriously? That title, those amazing teachers, the state I want to visit, and…April!?
All I have to say now is a huge thank you to the Universe, my soul guides, my angels, and my magical Grandparents who I know guide me through this life! Woohoo!
This is a sure case of manifesting magic. Now, manifesting is easier than you think. Put something out there in the Universe, and it will come back to you. But I think the key is to let go a little. Sure, I thought about getting my solo trip in this year to Colorado in April, but I only looked at a map once or twice. I didn’t freak out about it or put a vice grip on the little spark of an idea. Then, it has room to grow and bloom into something even better. Case in point 😉
Back to the conference!
I am so thrilled for this opportunity to work with Dr. Dyer (prolific self-development teacher and author who has had a New York Times best-selling book in each of the last five decades!), Reid Tracy (CEO/President of Hay House, the leading publisher in the self-help world), and Nancy Levin (Hay House event director and author of Writing For Your Life).
The weekend will encompass organizing thoughts/stories into a book, writing a book proposal, finding a literary agent, refining work already written, manifesting determination to write a book, and even submitting a proposal to Hay House!
I am down right giddy, folks!
So that’s that! I’m off to Colorado in just two short days. And here’s the thing, I would love your help!
I am staying downtown Denver for a few nights and in Estes Park for a day and a half.
Please let me know where I should eat, explore, drink coffee, get some yummy chocolate, find some killer crystals, take a hike, go on a drive. . .
Will you leave me a comment below or connect with me on Facebook or Twitter? That would be awesome! I have a few thoughts already, but I want to cross-check them with your expertise and excitement!
And, I am planning again on capturing this trip like I did my last solo trip with little blog posts each day. This, my friends, is gonna be good!
Wow, what a great story of empowerment! Enjoy every delicious minute of your conference. You will LOVE Estes Park! I attended a youth conference there in 1976 and spiritual energy of that place changed my life forever. Late in 2012, I began to manifest opportunities to gain more work/life balance by connecting with friends for fun side-trips while I travel for work. So far in 2013: skiing in Colorado, weekend in North Jersey, Seattle Wine Tour, Victoria BC in October. I cannot wait to see what other travel adventures are ahead this year!
Thanks dear Darla! I am so excited for the conference and for some quality time in “church” 🙂 So awesome that you had such a great experience there! Love hearing about your manifesting too – it’s amazing how powerful we truly are 🙂 Sounds like a lot of fun – I’ll come on that seattle wine tour! 😉 Much love!
Guess what Blair me and Jessie are going on a road trip to CO in June…. whoooo hooooooo soul sistas
Wahooo! Soul sistas for sure! I’ll do some research for you sweet gals 🙂
You’ll have a blast! If you get a chance, check out Mt.Evans (mountevans.com) – the entire road isn’t open yet but you can drive most of the way, hike the rest plus bag a fourteener! City o City (cityocitydenver.com) is a great place for food and coffee 🙂
Looking forward to a post about your adventures!
Oh nice tips! Thank you Lisa!!! I’ll be sure to let you all know where I head and what I do 🙂 Thanks a million!
What a lovely post Blair. I was just squealing with delight at your new adventure you are taking off on with Dr. Wayne Dyer. It will be life transforming for you no doubt. Wishing you a wonderful time. I cannot wait to have you back writing and sharing with us. xxo
Thanks Suzanne! I’m so thrilled and I look forward to this transformative time – I hope to blog while I’m out there – so stay tuned 🙂
I’ve been catching up on your posts in reverse order and am so excited to read how this trip came to be. My very first trip by myself, ever, at 35, was to spend two nights at the You Can Do It conference to see Wayne et al two springs ago. That trip was life changing. So last year I went away by myself for four nights to the place my soul calls home and now I’m off to Europe by myself for two weeks! gulp. Ah…the Universe is a glorious place… xoxo
Love it – reverse order is life sometimes, right 😉 Hehe! WOW! Europe!? Sweet! Where abouts? That will certainly bring some wonderful life changes I can imagine!
