It’s happening.
The world is changing. People are changing. You are changing.
Some of us already feel this shift. We’re feeling connected to a new life that supports who we are, we have a deep sense we are connected and responsible for each other, and we’re living with a knowingness that our thoughts really shape our reality, good or bad.
Not long ago, we stepped through a shining gateway. A grand frame of time that we consciously (and unconsciously) had been anticipating. It was last year, most prominently around the uber hyped, December 21, 2012. An ominous date that many thought would bring an end. Well, to be honest, it kinda did. It was a beginning disguised as the end. And we’re still feeling the changes a half a year later!
The last six months ushered in a new era where the Universe shifts into a state higher consciousness and brings Heaven closer and closer to Earth. A place and time where peace isn’t just that of technicolor, patchouli-wearing hippies, or a fashion statement, but where it actually lives inside of us, and it is our responsibility to set it free.
On the flip side, there are a lot of people who are crankier, over-stressed, and feeling more lost than ever. They’re gripping on to an ideal about the “way things oughta be” and are holding on to the old world so tightly that they are unable to see the miracle sparkling through the fog.
We have been programmed to believe that if we trap ourselves in a deceptively comfortable bubble and put blinders on, we won’t have to worry about fixing the world’s problems. We’ve been told to just “go about our business” and “keep doing what everyone else is doing. It’s worked for the past 100 years” and we’ll be fine. These are just a few of the thoughts that are making the collective groggy and not wanting to wake up.
In our culture, the snooze button is something we’ve fell in love with…hard. “It can wait 15 more minutes.” “I can do it tomorrow.” “Someone else will take care of it.”
The problem is, we think we have time.
Maybe you’re someone who has been feeling a little off lately, almost uncomfortable, like that whole “go about your business” thing really isn’t cutting it anymore. You’re feeling frustrated but stuck. Are those feelings making you uncomfortable enough to change? To listen to your inner GPS, not the outer world’s? Are you ready to stop hitting that damn snooze button? Your soul is stirring and the world needs it.
So, you’re ready, but how do you know this is the start of a spiritual awakening?
If any of these seven thoughts are present in your life, there’s a pretty decent chance you’re soul is begging to wake up…
“I’ve submitted 23 resumes but haven’t had any interviews”
This is an incredibly common occurence these days. People are losing their jobs and having difficulty finding another one. Why the wall? As the Universe is recalibrating, it is asking you to co-create what you want your true reality to be. More simply, it is giving you time to work on who you are and figure out exactly what it is that you want. Start defining who you are on a soul-level rather than defining yourself through your job. That is where the sparks will fly.
“I feel kinda icky after gossiping”
Drama is an addiction just like sugar or reality TV. Drama is an easy high because you think you’re elevating yourself above others. Have you hit a wall with negative talk that runs rampant in our offices, homes, and on the Internet? Can’t keep up with the Kardashian’s anymore? Instead of having a hearty conversation about the hideous Oscar fashion, why the newest celeb baby name is disgusting, or how much you hate your in-laws, flip it. Start conversations about things that are positive and uplifting. Simply, like attracts like. Drama attracts drama.
“I’m going to lose it l if I get into an argument…again”
Here’s a (not so great) secret: it is so much easier to choose peace over being right. Losing sight of blame and pointing fingers allows your true self to shine through and take full responsibility for your actions. By releasing old patterns of victim mentality and the need to blame others for your feelings, you open yourself up to a world of peace. Accept all challenges with love and let go of what is right and what is wrong.
“My friends don’t ‘get me’ anymore”
This one is tough. As you enter the process of rediscovering your authentic self, that gorgeous internal light of yours will begin to shine brighter. This can be scary for people who are resistant to change and evolution. Because you’re illuminating, it can cast shadows in others that they don’t want to see in themselves. Be gentle with yourself and loved ones during this process and the timing is different for everyone.
“I went to Barnes and Noble to buy 50 Shades of Grey but left with May Cause Miracles“
Beam me up, Scotty! Or just tractor-beam me to the self-help section, that works too. Feeling instinctively drawn to something spiritual, like a book, with no rhyme or reason other than it just “feels right” is a big nudge from the Heavens. If you were asking for a sign, there’s nothing more clear than the transformational power of words.
“Why do I feel sick after eating that entire bag of M&Ms? I felt fine when I did it last week!”
Changes in diet happen as you reconnect to the true you. Seriously. That may sound batty, but as most of us know, we weren’t born into the world being able to digest over 25 ingredients at a time and red dye #40. As you begin to awaken, so does your body. Tolerance and cravings for junk will become less. Listen to your body and nourish it with simplicity and vibrancy.
“I’ve visited 6 doctors and none can figure out that pain in my ear/shoulder/baby toe”
Do you have a headache that just won’t quit? It could be your third eye opening up. How about pain in your ears that have overstayed its welcome? That could be a recalibration of your hearing so you can lean in and trust your inner guidance more easily. Think about it, if the Universe is getting a makeover, we are too. Use your intuition, but, if you are in serious pain or injury, seek medical attention!
Remember, we are all in this together! You are here at this exact time to be the best version of your authentic self. All you have to do is wake up and be willing!
How did you know it was time for a spiritual awakening? I love hearing your stories!

What a great post Blair. I SO resonate with what you write about and this spiritual awakening post is no different. You speak the language that deeply resonates with me, but I can’t express it in writing or with words like you do. I totally resonate with every word you wrote here. I also experience friends and family that really don’t get me… and I try to not stop myself, it’s too important that I discover the real and authentic me behind the person I thought I was all of my life. Blessings! Thank you for sharing this beautiful post. xo

Thank you so much Suzanne! 🙂 I still work on being completely comfortable in my “spiritual skin.” I have to work on it hour-by-hour sometimes! But, for whatever reason I feel like I a part of my path on this planet is to stand in my own bravery! Fun, but hard sometimes! Lots of love!

Check, check, and check. Have you been living in my head again Blair??! Thank you so much for the reminder that struggles this winter/spring have been for a reason. And they certainly make the good days I’ve had lately seem that much better! xx

Love to you Lorinda! Thank you 🙂

What a great post Blair, this is a really stunning piece of writing. I really like your easy to follow writing and feel that I can genuinely connect with what you are saying. I am currently undergoing a spiritual transformation of my own and although there is an awful lot of information out there it is rare to find something who is genuinely passionate in their writing but also has the proof to back it up also.

Hi, I hope you can bare with me as I explain this but long story short, I have been working at a job as an apprentice for around a year now and I have been meditating just over a year after going through a serious episode of anxiety and depersonalisation which j believe started this whole journey for me at the very start. I have always disliked this job completely as a digital marketer constantly doing the same tasks such as checking competitive prices and doing general office jobs which I dislike. I have always been an introverted person who is easily drained of energy from other people. In this job I am constantly forced to interact with the entire office as it is a small company and they are all used to constantly talking. As well as this I sit next to two egotistical people who always mock me and how I talk. I have developed a consciousness which allows me to watch my thoughts and actions without judgement which has really helped. However I suffer from a terrible depression and my eyes are always stinging really badly but only while I’m in work. I also don’t seem to feel depressed outside of work. I struggled with anxiety for years and I believe I would definitely be able to help others with the same issues but I don’t know how to make money until then and it scared me I’m only just 19. Please provide any advice you can to help me. My cognitive function is completely impaired. Thanks
