What a day!
Santa Fe is a lovely town with many friendly faces…and {oh boy} it seems I’m scared of those friendly faces…..ugh. I really can’t seem to kick this nervous energy. Why!?
I can pinpoint it on a few external things: I didn’t sleep very well last night (I blame my sheets, where the heck is the duvet?) and was up late blogging and planning my days to come. But…I know the nervous feeling is definitely internal. I would be lying if I didn’t say that I’m disappointed in myself…but I’m trying not to dwell on those feelings.
To try to forget my fear, I decided to make the hour and a half trek from Santa Fe to Taos. It was a gorgeous ride…stunning vistas on every side.
Unfortunately, it snowed early in the morning, so the roads were a little slick. Thus, I ended up being stressed and wasn’t able to authentically enjoy the ride because of the conditions on the mountain road in my little rental car. Such a bummer…but now I have an excuse to come back to the area, right? Catch you on the flip side, Taos!
After heading back south, I reminded myself I was on the road towards total zen. On whim (but with many recommendations), I called Ten Thousand Waves (a well-known Santa Fe spa) to see if there were any openings for a massage. Sure enough, they had an opening right away and I was also able to book an amazing private hot tub soak. You have to see this:
Just imagine having this entire spot to yourself for an hour and a half…basking in the chilly mountain air, soaking in an authentic Japanese hand-thrown ceramic tub, all while being totally secluded so you can relax and meditate.
After, I indulged in a massage. Each of the therapy rooms has a different style or scenery. Mine had picturesque floor-to-ceiling window that overlooked the mountain side. I was even able to watch a few flurries fall while I drifted off into total relaxation. Zen. It’s a good sign that you feel a little loopy after a massage, right? I say yes!
{I’ll share more photos and information on my spa visit soon!}
So, day two, I really enjoyed you and the interesting feelings you’ve brought up.
Tomorrow, though, I will try to live a little more in the mountains. I’ll be channeling my inner Care-Bear, Brave Heart Lion (can you tell I’m a child of the 80s?)!
I’m headed west toward Arizona…really looking forward to the drive! Happy trails!
