Hello again!
I’m leaving the comforts of my Minnesota home to set out on a journey of New Mexico and Arizona for seven days! {By myself} Yep. Just me!

Call me crazy…but I’m doing it! I have always fantasized about taking a solo trip, but haven’t been brave enough to take the leap. But, as I mentioned in my last post, now is the time!
Now, it’s not that I don’t like being around people, but I feel like I constantly carry around a blizzard of thoughts in my head that ends up being too much to handle. And when that happens, I need to make like a bird and be free, and try to learn why I have a blizzard in my brain!
I’m thinking of this trip a meditation on my future. I’m using seven days to envision how I want my week, month, year and decade to play out. And to remember:
- my passions
- to get out of my comfort zone (this is a big one for me to tackle!)
- to see what new possibilities and places bring
- to encourage growth in my personal life (which will translate into all other areas of my life)
I am so thrilled for this adventure, but I am also nervous…will stick out when dining out at restaurants alone? Is it safe for me to take a solo hike? Will I be bored? Will I really be able to live outside my comfort zones?
{Have you ever ventured on your own?}
{Have you taken a trip that has changed your life?}
{Do you have any advice for me?}
I expect, even after all my worries, that I will revel in this trip. I hope it will be something that I remember for a lifetime!
Why did I choose the Southwest? I have always LOVED the mountain/desert combo…the soul-stirring sunsets, the heat, nature’s sculptures, the food (oh, the food!), that peaceful yet energizing feeling, and of course, the turquoise! I find the Southwest a place where I can reflect…where I can just be.
So, I’ll start off in Santa Fe, New Mexico, a place I’ve never been. My heart has always whispered reminders for me to visit this lovely town. It’s such an exciting feeling to know I’m going to take off and land in a place I’ve never experienced before!
Alright, lovely people, please let me know your suggestions on what not to miss in the Santa Fe/Taos area! Where should I eat? Where should I explore? What’s your favorite “chill out” spot?
{Big thanks in advance!}
Stay tuned, as I will be blogging and posting pictures throughout my first ever solo trip!
Happy trails!
I love how brave you were to head out on a solo journey for 7-days. I have ventured out alone twice but it was at a specific destination where I was by myself… I didn’t have to drive once I got there. Love your post.
It did take a bit of bravery on my part – glad I did it though and glad to do it again!
