I cherish the days I wake up with a smile in my heart and that giddy, Christmas morning, we’re-going-to-Disneyworld-type of excitement! It may not come every morning…but darn it, I’m going to try!
That was this morning. Laying in my warm bed with my soft purple and turquoise flannel PJs on, I couldn’t help but silently hold place for many “thank yous” in my heart, ready to start my day. I got to wake up next to my still slumbering husband, and snuggle a bit before I got out of bed.
After opening our bedroom door, I was greeted with a wiggly, wagging tail from sweet Frankie, our puggle. He sleeps on the couch and I love seeing him nestled into our pillows (even though I have to clean them every week!) and stretch like a cat before he jumps up to give me a gentle kiss on the nose.
Life is good. These moments are often forgotten, or written off. I am going to cherish every morning. It’s a new start, a fresh beginning! Put a smile on your face and wake up with a happy heart!
I have to say…this was the best part of my week.
But, of course, I had a few other bits of bliss 🙂
- Election Day is always memorable. I love voting (I even get emotional as I fill out the ballot), and I love spending the night in front of the TV watching the results come in. No matter the outcome, or what “side you’re on,” can we all agree that we need peace in this world? I don’t mean “hippie peace”…but, inner, help-a-neighbor-out, evolutionary peace. Calm. I hope this will continue the next four years and way, way beyond!
- So…as a supplement to my healing, I have been encouraged to eat more red meat. For those who know me well, know I am not a beef eater. But…I’ve jumped back on the bandwagon (for the meantime at least!), and it really tastes so good! I had my first hamburger in nearly ten years at Ike’s in Minneapolis…beyond bliss…and the fries weren’t bad either ;):
- I had the most amazing therapeutic massage yesterday. I haven’t had a massage for about a year, and it made for a great supplement for my acupuncture treatments. She got into places that I forgot I even needed some attention (think: armpits! Weird, huh?). I still feel like I’m floating.
- Oh and here’s a picture of Frankie in his autumn sweater…even though he looks happy in the photo, he’s not a huge fan! But it brings me a lot of bliss!
I love the description of your morning. I only eat beef about once a week and it is usually not a hamburger. I think the most unhealthy that we all ate is french fries so I have weened myself way from fries and sometimes, I do my own health fries in the oven with olive oil. I couldn’t live without my massage – I get them every two weeks and they are heavenly.
Your own fries in olive oil sound great! Hope you had a good weekend, Ruth 🙂
Thank you for sharing your bliss with us Blair. We can find bliss everywhere can’t we. I love how you shared yours. It’s helping me today to find my own bliss a bit easier, in all the little things in life for which I truly am grateful.
Glad to! Glad I have some 🙂 Hope you had a great weekend! xo
Lovely bliss list – and yay to waking up with a smile in your heart!
Thanks Deborah! Heart smiles are the best 🙂
Sounds like a beautiful and gentle week. Full of tender self care and an abundance of bliss xx
It truly was, Lorinda 🙂 Hope you had some of the same! xo
