Until I got pregnant, I was pretty conscious of what I ate, but not what I put on my body. I thought that just picking up natural, green, or even organic beauty and body products meant I would be safe. Our government does a great job at regulating everything it seems…so of course I felt safe purchasing products with those labels. Well, turns out the United States isn’t doing a great job at keeping those products safe.
Companies are allowed to use known toxins — ingredients that have been linked to hormone disruption, reproductive issues, and cancer — without telling us. The United States has not passed a federal law to regulate ingredients used in personal care products since 1938. 1938!! To me, this is unacceptable. Allowing the majority of the market to produce, sell and market products that wreak havoc on our physical and emotional wellbeing is very disheartening. And I want to do something to create more good, health, and all-around happiness in this world…so…
Beautycounter’s simple mission is to get safe products (skincare, cosmetics, sunscreen, shampoo, lotion, the list goes on…) into the hands of everyone.
Beautycounter has banned more than 1500 ingredients (the FDA has banned 11. Yes, 11!).
This has set a new standard for health and safety in the beauty market. And they’re keeping up with the other high-performing, glow-getting products on the beauty market, so you can feel pretty on the inside and outside.
Also, many of you know about my new found love for all things birth and baby. I am happy to say that these products are completely safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Something I wish I had known about!
They even have a kids line (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and sunscreen) called Kidscounter! River is going to be the best smelling kid on the block 🙂 Best to start the little ones off with less chemicals and toxins in their life!
I hope I have explained what Beautycounter stands for and what the company means to me. I am more than happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Leave a comment below or email me (I promise to respond within 2 business days).

*Side note: my personal favorites right now are Dew Skin (a tinted moisturizer with SPF 20…I’ve been so bad about wearing sunscreen that I can’t forget with this!) and the Routine Clean Cleanser (gets all my makeup off easily with cleansing and conditioning coconut oil).
